The main physiotherapy degree in India is the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT): about 4.5 years including a 6-month internship, after 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. A Diploma in Physiotherapy (DPT) is a shorter course, usually for assistant-level roles. Physiotherapy is recognised as an allied and healthcare profession under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act, 2021.

What physiotherapists do
- Assess movement problems caused by injury, surgery, stroke, arthritis or ageing.
- Plan exercise programmes and use manual therapy and electrotherapy.
- Help patients recover after orthopaedic and neurological conditions.
- Work in sports rehabilitation, ICU and cardiac rehab, and paediatric care.
What you study
Anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, exercise therapy, electrotherapy, orthopaedics, neurology, cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, community rehabilitation and clinical postings, followed by an internship in BPT.
Career scope
Hospitals, rehabilitation centres, sports teams, fitness centres, home-care services and private clinics. Many BPT graduates go on to an MPT in a speciality such as orthopaedics, neurology or sports.

No, OSPMI does not currently offer physiotherapy courses.
Is NEET required for BPT?
It depends on the state and university — some use NEET scores or their own entrance test for BPT admission, others admit on merit. Check the admission notice of the university you are applying to.
Can I become a physiotherapist with a diploma?
A diploma usually prepares you for assistant roles. The degree (BPT) is the standard qualification for working as a physiotherapist.
