Note: OSPMI Ambala does not currently offer D.Pharm. This guide explains the course so you can decide well, and lists the paramedical courses we do offer if you are also considering a hospital career.
D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy) is a 2-year course after 10+2 (Physics, Chemistry with Biology or Maths) that qualifies you to register as a pharmacist with your State Pharmacy Council and work in a medical store, hospital pharmacy or pharmaceutical company. The course must be run by an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI).

What you study in D.Pharm
Pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacognosy, human anatomy and physiology, social pharmacy, pharmacology, community pharmacy, biochemistry and clinical pathology, pharmacotherapeutics, hospital and clinical pharmacy, and pharmacy law and ethics.
Always check PCI approval before admission
Only a D.Pharm from a PCI-approved institution for the relevant academic year leads to pharmacist registration. Check the institution on the official PCI website before paying fees.

- Registered pharmacist in a retail medical store or your own pharmacy (as per licensing rules)

- Government pharmacist posts (through recruitment exams)

D.Pharm or a paramedical course?

Does OSPMI offer D.Pharm?
No, OSPMI does not currently offer D.Pharm. We offer paramedical diplomas, B.Voc and B.Sc. allied health courses.
Can an Arts student do D.Pharm?
Generally no — D.Pharm needs 10+2 with Physics and Chemistry, plus Biology or Maths. Arts students can consider paramedical diplomas that accept any stream.
Is D.Pharm better than DMLT?
They lead to different careers: D.Pharm to pharmacy and medicines, DMLT to laboratory testing. Choose based on the work you want to do every day.
